In one aspect, the first portion can include a first phase comprising silicon carbide (SiC) and a second phase comprising calcium boride (CaB6). In another aspect, the first portion can further include a third phase comprising boron carbide (B4C). L'invention concerne un composant de blindage comprenant un corps possédant une première partie comprenant des composés de borure de calcium, comprenant du borure de calcium non stœchiométrique (CaBx) et du borure de calcium stœchiométrique (CaB6) et possédant une masse volumique d'au moins environ 80 % de la masse volumique théorique. Selon un aspect, la première partie peut comprendre une première phase comprenant du carbure de silicium (SiC) et une deuxième phase comprenant du borure de calcium (CaB6). Selon un autre aspect, la première partie peut comprendre en outre une troisième phase comprenant du carbure de bore (B4C).
