This solid-electrolyte additive composition (A) for a solid electrolytic capacitor contains one or both of two mixtures (E and/or J). One of said mixtures (E) contains the following: a compound (F1) that has two hydroxyl groups; boric acid (D1); and, possibly, a compound (K1) that has three or more hydroxyl groups. The other mixture (J) contains the following: a compound (G) obtained by reacting a compound (F2) that has two hydroxyl groups with boric acid (D2) and possibly a compound (K2) that has three or more hydroxyl groups; a compound (F3) that has two hydroxyl groups; and, possibly, a compound (K3) that has three or more hydroxyl groups. This additive composition (A) satisfies the relations 100×[{equivalent weight of compound (K1)+equivalent weight of compound (K2)+equivalent weight of compound (K3)}/{equivalent weight of boric acid (D1)+equivalent weight of boric acid (D2)}] ≤ 6 and 1 ≤ 100×[{equivalent weight of boric acid (D1)+equivalent weight of boric acid (D2)}/{equivalent weight of compound (F1)+equivalent weight of compound (F2)+equivalent weight of compound (F3)}] ≤ 20.
