A method and an electronic device for authenticating release of data towards a device driver, the device comprises a main display area, a memory module and a processor module, the processor module is for executing a display function manager that manages access to an extra display area defined outside of the main display area, storing into the memory module authentication credentials identifying software applications, executing on the processor module, that are authorized for the display function manager and receiving a request, from one of the software applications executing on the processor module, for sending data towards the display function manager, the request comprises requesting credentials from the one software application, the processor is also for verifying the requesting credentials in relation to the extra display area against the stored authentication credentials and, when the requesting credentials are verified, authorizing the release of the data towards the device driver. L'invention concerne un procédé et un dispositif électronique pour authentifier la libération de données vers un pilote de dispositif, le dispositif comprenant une zone d'affichage principale, un module de mémoire et un module de processeur, le module de processeur étant configuré pour exécuter un gestionnaire de fonction d'affichage qui gère un accès à une zone d'affichage supplémentaire définie à l'extérieur de la zone d'affichage principale, stocker dans le module de mémoire des justificatifs d'identité d'authentification identifiant des applications logicielles s'exécutant sur le module de processeur, qui sont autorisées pour le gestionnaire de fonction d'affichage, et recevoir une requête, à partir de l'une des applications logicielles s'exécutant sur le module de processeur, pour envoyer des données vers le gestionnaire de fonction d'affichage, la requête comprenant des justificatifs d'identité de requête provenant de ladite application logicielle, le processeur étant également configuré pour vérifier les justificatifs d'identité de requête associés à la zone d'affichage supplémentaire par rapport aux justificatifs d'identité d'authentification stockés, et, lorsque les justificatifs d'identité de requête sont vérifiés, autoriser la libération des données vers le pilote de dispositif.
