In order to obtain a small-sized and highly versatile image sensor and an image sensor device that are capable of obtaining reflected light information of both sides of an object to be read and transmitted light information from both sides of the object to be read and have a short conveying direction dimension while ensuring conveying quality, the image sensor and the image sensor device comprise: a lighting unit extending in a main scanning direction and illuminating the object-to-be-read with light; a rod lens array for focusing light from the object to be read; and a light receiving unit for converting the light focused by the rod lens array into an electric signal. The lighting unit illuminates a first illumination region of the object-to-be-read with normal light from the normal line direction of the object to be read and a second illumination region with a tilted light tilted by a predetermined angle from the normal line direction of the object to be read, said second illumination region being apart from the first illumination region in a sub-scanning direction. La présente invention a pour objet d'obtenir un capteur d'image de petite taille et grandement polyvalent ainsi qu'un dispositif capteur d'image qui sont capables d'obtenir des informations de lumière réfléchie des deux côtés d'un objet à lire et des informations de lumière transmise des deux côtés de l'objet à lire et qui ont une courte dimension de direction de transport tout en assurant la qualité de transport. Le capteur d'image et le dispositif capteur d'image de la présente invention comprennent : une unité d'éclairage s'étendant dans une direction de balayage principale et éclairant l'objet à lire avec de la lumière ; un réseau de lentilles barreau servant à concentrer la lumière de l'objet à lire ; et une unité de réception de lumière servant à convertir la lumière concentrée par le réseau de lentilles barreau en un signal électrique. L'unité d'éclairage éclaire une première région d'éclairage de l'objet à lire avec une lumière normale à la direction de la ligne normale de l'objet à lire et une seconde région d'éclairage avec une lumière inclinée qui est inclinée d'un angle prédéterminé de la direction de la ligne normale de l'objet à lire, ladite seconde région d'éclairage étant distante de la première région d'éclairage dans une direction de sous-balayage.
