Summary: | Provided is a process for detecting a target antigen in a sample, by antigen-antibody reaction of the target antigen and an antibody fragment which includes an antigen recognition site for said antigen (below "antigen fragment antibody"), and thus a detection process in which an nonspecific reaction caused by a fragment antibody is suppressed. More specifically, the process for detecting a target antigen in a sample by antigen-antibody reaction of the target antigen and an antigen fragment antibody comprises: (a) a step of contacting a sample and a modified fragment antibody and (b) after (a) is completed, a step of contacting the sample and the fragment antibody supported on an insoluble carrier. Thus, an nonspecific reaction is suppressed.
