HEADPHONES AND HEADSETS

Headphones or a headset comprise a pair of electro-acoustic transducers (1,2), both ear-pieces for headphones and an ear¬ piece and a microphone for a headset, are carried at opposite ends of a curved headband (3) that is formed by a chain of links (500-511) that are hinged to one another and the transducers (1,2) transversely of the headband (3). Each link (5) involves a shell-casing (8) that on its underside at one end has a first pair of mutually-spaced projecting lugs (9) and at the opposite end has a second pair of mutually-spaced projecting lugs (10) that nest with the first pair of lugs (9) of the next- following link (5). The nested lugs (9,10) are pierced transversely and pivot pins (11) inserted in the piercings to establish hinges (7) between the links (5). The transducers (1,2) are correspondingly hinged to the ends of the headband (3) in order to enable the headphones or headset to be rolled up lengthwise of the headband (3) with one the transducers, namely an ear-piece (2), located centrally within the roll and the other transducer (1) turned in on the outside. End links (500,511) and a central pair of the links (505,506) are shorter than the other links to facilitate compactness of the roll-up. Chaque raccord (5) comprend un étui d'enveloppe (8) qui, sur son côté inférieur à une première extrémité, a une première paire de tenons saillants mutuellement espacés (9) et, à l'extrémité opposée, a une seconde paire de tenons saillants mutuellement espacés (10) qui s'emboîtent avec la première paire de tenons (9) du raccord suivant (5). Les tenons emboîtés (9, 10) sont percés transversalement et font tourner des broches (11) insérées dans les perçages pour établir des charnières (7) entre les raccords (5). Les transducteurs (1, 2) sont reliés par charnière de façon correspondante aux extrémités du bandeau (3) de façon à permettre au casque audio ou au casque d'écoute d'être enroulé dans le sens de la longueur du bandeau (3) avec l'un des transducteurs, à savoir un écouteur (2), placé au centre du rouleau et l'autre transducteur (1) tourné sur l'extérieur. Des raccords d'extrémité (500, 511) et une paire centrale de raccords (505, 506) sont plus courts que les autres raccords pour faciliter une compacité du rouleau.
