Summary:Provided is a rare-earth gallium garnet ceramic which has a high extinction ratio and a high light transmittance. Ge and Al are incorporated as sintering aids into a rare-earth gallium garnet ceramic in amounts of 5-500 mass ppm and 20-250 mass ppm, respectively, in terms of metal amount.
