Summary:The invention relates to a method for controlling an electric power steering motor. This method is aimed at avoiding sudden movements of the steering wheel and loss of power steering when the supply voltage drops below a threshold value. To avoid that, the invention proposes switching off the power steering (E2) when the supply voltage drops below a threshold value and then, if the steering wheel angle and/or steering wheel torque varies/vary significantly when the power steering is switched off, activating the motor brake of the electric motor (E5). L'invention concerne un procédé de commande du moteur d'une direction assistée électrique. Ce procédé a pour but d'éviter les mouvements soudains du volant et la perte d'assistance lorsque la tension d'alimentation devient inférieure à une valeur seuil. Pour éviter cela, on propose selon l'invention de couper la direction assistée (E2) lorsque la tension d'alimentation devient inférieure à une valeur seuil puis, si l'angle volant et/ou le couple volant varie (nt) de manière importante pendant la coupure de la direction assistée, d'activer le frein moteur du moteur électrique (E5).
