Die Erfindung betrifft ein thermoelektrisches Bauelement umfassend mindestens ein Thermopaar, welches aus zwei elektrisch miteinander verbundenen Thermoschenkeln aus thermoelektrischem Aktivmaterial aufgebaut ist, und ein das Thermopaar stützendes oder umschließendes Substrat aus thermisch und elektrisch isolierendem Matrixmaterial, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das Substrat und die Thermoschenkel aus trocken verpressten Pulvervorstufen hergestellt sind. Des Weiteren betrifft die Erfindung ein Verfahren zur Herstellung dieses thermoelektrischen Bauelements.
