Method for the generation of a sugar from lignocellulosic biomass, comprising (a) a pretreatment process, in which the biomass is prepared for enzymatic hydrolysis, and (b) a subsequent hydrolysis process, in which the pretreated biomass is subjected to enzymatic hydrolysis of its cellulosic components to convert them into sugars, wherein the pretreatment process (a) is carried out in the presence of a tertiary polyamide additive. The additive may be used to improve the efficiency of the hydrolysisprocess (b). Also provided are processes for the production of a fermentation product from lignocellulosic biomass, and/or for the production of a biofuel or biofuel component, the processes comprising subjecting the biomass to the invented method, and subsequently inducing fermentation of a sugar in the resultant treated biomass. L'invention concerne un procédé de génération d'un sucre à partir d'une biomasse lignocellulosique, comprenant (a) un procédé de prétraitement, selon lequel la biomasse est préparée pour l'hydrolyse enzymatique, et (b) un procédé d'hydrolyse ultérieur, selon lequel la biomasse prétraitée est soumise à une hydrolyse enzymatique de ses composants cellulosiques pour les transformer en sucres, le procédé de prétraitement (a) étant réalisé en présence d'un additif polyamide tertiaire. L'additif peut être utilisé pour améliorer l'efficacité du procédé d'hydrolyse (b). L'invention concerne également des procédés de production d'un produit de fermentation à partir d'une biomasse lignocellulosique et/ou de production d'un biocarburant ou d'un composant de biocarburant, les procédés comprenant la soumission de la biomasse au procédé selon l'invention, puis l'induction de la fermentation d'un sucre dans la biomasse traitée résultante.
