La présente invention concerne un composé représenté par la formule générale (I) ou un sel pharmaceutiquement acceptable de celui-ci. Ce composé inédit a la capacité d'activer une glycogène synthase, mais n'active que rarement un récepteur, par exemple un récepteur PPAR, et se révèle très sûr. Dans la formule, Ar représente un noyau carboné aromatique ou un noyau hétérocyclique et Ar2 représente l'un quelconque des noyaux mentionnés ci-dessous ou équivalent.
