Summary:Disclosed is an invention which relates to antimicrobial compositions, particularly for personal cleansing, oral care or hard surface cleaning. It has been determined that antimicrobial activity of alpha terpineol increases with an increase in the content of (S) minus isomer and we found the minimum efficacious amount. Disclosed are antimicrobial compositions having terpineol wherein at least 33 % of the terpineol is S (-) alpha terpineol. L'invention porte sur des compositions antimicrobiennes, en particulier pour l'hygiène personnelle, les soins bucco-dentaires ou le nettoyage de surface dure. Il a été déterminé que l'activité antimicrobienne de l'alpha-terpinéol augmente avec une augmentation de la teneur de l'isomère (S) (-) et nous avons trouvé la quantité efficace minimale. L'invention porte sur des compositions antimicrobiennes renfermant du terpinéol, au moins 33 % du terpinéol étant du (S)-(-)-alpha-terpinéol.
