A ventilation apparatus arranged on a wall of the indoor side of an air duct connecting an indoor space to the outdoors and provided with a ventilation mask. The ventilation mask is composed of a mask frame and a movable mask. The horizontal distance from the center of gravity of the movable mask to the wall of the indoor side is greater than the horizontal distance from a movable mask shaft to the wall of the indoor side. An operating rod is arranged from the lower part of the mask frame and is allowed to move left and right along an end face of the lower part of the mask frame. The movable mask and the mask frame have arranged therebetween a connector connecting the movable mask and the operating rod. The connector is a structure that slides in the upward and downward directions. The connector converts the left and right movements of the operating rod into shutting and opening movements of the movable mask revolving around the movable mask shaft.
