The present invention provides extracts of material fermented with Paenibacillus sp., preferably the herein denominated Paenibacillus elgii ourofinensis, which have antimicrobial activity and/or growth-promoting activity for animals that will be slaughtered for human consumption. The invention provides new peptides obtained from fractions of the Paenibacillus elgii ourofinensis fermentation extract, said new peptides having antimicrobial activity and growth-promoting activity for organisms, for example plants and animals. The invention also relates to the use of the extract from this new strain, Paenibacillus elgii ourofinensis, for promoting growth and as an antimicrobial agent for the prophylaxis and treatment of animals for human consumption. La présente invention concerne des extraits d'une matière fermentée avec Paenibacillus sp., de préférence dénommé ci-après Paenibacillus elgii ourofinensis, à activité antimicrobienne et/ou promotrice de la croissance d'animaux destinés à être abattus pour la consommation humaine. L'invention concerne de nouveaux peptides obtenus à partir de fractions de l'extrait de fermentation de Paenibacillus elgii ourofinensis, ces nouveaux peptides présentant une activité antimicrobienne et promotrice de la croissance d'organismes tels que, par exemple, des plantes et des animaux. L'invention concerne également l'utilisation de l'extrait de cette nouvelle souche, Paenibacillus elgii ourofinensis, comme promoteur de croissance et comme agent antimicrobien à usage thérapeutique et prophylactique pour des animaux destinés à la consommation humaine. A presente invenção proporciona extratos material fermentado com Paenibacillus sp., preferencialmente o aqui denominado Paenibacillus elgii ourofinensis, com atividade antimicrobiana e/ou promotora de crescimento de animais destinados ao abate para consumo humano. A invenção proporciona novos peptídeos obtidos a partir de frações do extrato de fermentação de Paenibacillus elgii ourofinensis, ditos novos peptídeos tendo atividade antimicrobiana e promotora de crescimento de organismos, por exemplo, plantas e animais. A invenção também trata da utilização do extrato dessa nova cepa, Paenibacillus elgii ourofinensis, como promotor de crescimento e como agente antimicrobiano no tratamento e profilaxia de animais destinados ao consumo humano.
