Automatic manipulation of document user interface behavior is provided based on an insertion point. Upon placement of an insertion point within a displayed document, the behavior of the user interface is adjusted based on a next action of the user. If the user begins a drag action near the insertion point, he/she is enabled to interact with the content of the document (e.g. select a portion of text or object(s)). If the user begins a drag action at a location away from the insertion point, on the other hand, he/she is enabled to interact with the page (e.g. panning). Thus, the interaction behavior is automatically adjusted without additional action by the user or limitations on user action. L'invention porte sur la manipulation automatique d'un comportement d'interface utilisateur de document basé sur un point d'insertion. Lors du placement d'un point d'insertion à l'intérieur d'un document affiché, le comportement de l'interface utilisateur est ajusté sur la base d'une action suivante de l'utilisateur. Si l'utilisateur commence une action de glissement près du point d'insertion, il/elle est autorisé(e) à interagir avec le contenu du document (par exemple, sélectionner une partie de texte ou un ou des objets). Si l'utilisateur commence sinon une action de glissement à un emplacement éloigné du point d'insertion, il/elle est autorisé(e) à interagir avec la page (par exemple, panoramique). Ainsi, le comportement d'interaction est automatiquement ajusté sans action supplémentaire par l'utilisateur ni limites sur une action d'utilisateur.
