A composition for use as coating material and adhesive, which comprises (a) 20 to 40% by mass of a vinyl ester resin or an unsaturated polyester resin, (b) 0.1 to 50% by mass of a modifier, (c) 30 to 70% by mass of a vinyl monomer and/or a (meth)acrylate monomer (with the proviso that the sum total of the components (a) to (c) is 100% by mass), and (d) 0.1 to 15 parts by mass of an initiator per 100 parts by mass of the sum total of the components (a) to (c). Composition destinée à être utilisée à titre de matériau de revêtement et d'adhésif qui comprend (a) de 20 à 40 % en poids d'une résine ester de vinyle ou d'une résine polyester insaturée, (b) de 0,1 à 50 % en poids d'agent de modification, (c) de 30 à 70 % en poids d'un monomère de vinyle et/ou d'un monomère de (méth)acrylate (à condition que la somme totale des composants (a) à (c) soit de 100 % en poids), et (d) de 0,1 à 15 parties en poids d'un amorceur pour 100 parties en poids de la somme totale des composants (a) à (c).
