With the aim of obtaining an organic-inorganic hybrid prepolymer and an organic-inorganic polymer (a product of gelling of the prepolymer) which are free from clusters of an inorganic component, provided is an organic-inorganic hydrid prepolymer which is produced by reacting a polydimethylsiloxane that has one or two terminal silanol groups with a metal and/or semimetal alkoxide oligomer through polycondensation accompanied with hydrolysis to introduce the metal and/or semimetal alkoxide to one or both terminals of the polydimethylsiloxane. Dans l'objectif d'obtenir un prépolymère hybride organique-inorganique et un polymère organique-inorganique (un produit de gélification du prépolymère) qui sont dépourvus d'amas de composant inorganique, l'invention concerne un prépolymère hybride organique-inorganique qui est produit en faisant réagir un polydiméthylsiloxane qui comporte un ou deux groupes silanol terminaux avec un oligomère d'alcoxyde de métal et/ou de semi-métal par polycondensation associée à une hydrolyse afin d'introduire l'alcoxyde de métal et/ou de semi-métal sur une extrémité ou sur les deux extrémités du polydiméthylsiloxane.
