Disclosed is a stereo camera device that makes variable the distance resolving power of a measurement, according to the distance to an object to be measured, and carries out distance measurement that is both stable and highly precise. A stereo camera device (1) receives two images, changes the resolution of a partial region of each image thus received, and calculates the distance from a vehicle to an object to be measured that is mapped in the partial region, on the basis of the parallax of the partial region of each image, the resolution thereof having been changed. It is thus possible to carry out stable distance measurement even if the object to be measured is at long range and of small size. L'invention porte sur un dispositif d'appareil photographique stéréoscopique qui rend variable le pouvoir de résolution de distance d'une mesure, selon la distance par rapport à un objet à mesurer, et qui réalise une mesure de distance à la fois stable et hautement précise. Un dispositif d'appareil photographique stéréoscopique (1) reçoit deux images, modifie la résolution d'une région partielle de chaque image ainsi reçue, et calcule la distance d'un véhicule à un objet à mesurer mappé dans la région partielle, sur la base de la parallaxe de la région partielle de chaque image, la résolution de celle-ci ayant été modifiée. Il est ainsi possible de réaliser une mesure de distance stable même si l'objet à mesurer est à une grande distance et de petite dimension.
