A method for determining volume coherency is disclosed herein. Upon completing a first write job to a volume partition, the method makes a copy of a volume change reference (VCR) value associated with the volume. The VCR value is configured to change in a non-repeating manner each time content on the volume is modified. Prior to initiating a second write job to the volume partition, the method retrieves the copy and compares the copy to the VCR value. If the copy matches the VCR value, the method determines that a logical object on the partition was not modified between the first and second write jobs. If the copy does not match the VCR value, the method determines that the logical object on the partition was modified between the first and second write jobs. A corresponding system and computer program product are also disclosed herein. L'invention porte sur un procédé de détermination d'une cohérence de volume. Lors de l'achèvement d'une première tâche d'écriture sur une partition de volume, le procédé réalise une copie d'une valeur de référence de changement de volume (VCR) associée au volume. La valeur VCR est configurée pour changer de manière non répétitive à chaque fois que le contenu sur le volume est modifié. Avant l'initiation d'une seconde tâche d'écriture sur la partition de volume, le procédé extrait la copie et compare la copie à la valeur VCR. Si la copie correspond à la valeur VCR, le procédé détermine qu'un objet logique sur la partition n'a pas été modifié entre les première et seconde tâches d'écriture. Si la copie ne correspond pas à la valeur VCR, le procédé détermine que l'objet logique sur la partition a été modifié entre les première et seconde tâches d'écriture.
