The present invention provides for a pharmaceutical composition that includes tetrabenazine and a release-retarding agent; and a method of treating a hyperkinetic movement disorder (e.g., Huntington's disease, chorea associated with Huntington's disease, hemiballismus, senile chorea, tic disorders, tardive dyskinesia, myoclonus, dystonia and/or Tourette's syndrome). The method includes administering an effective amount of the pharmaceutical composition, for a period of time effective to treat the hyperkinetic movement disorder. La présente invention concerne une composition pharmaceutique contenant de la tétrabénazine et un agent ralentissant sa libération ; ainsi qu'une méthode de traitement d'une hyperkinésie (par exemple de type maladie de Huntington, chorée associée à la maladie de Huntington, hémiballisme, chorée sénile, tics, dyskinésie tardive, myoclonie, dystonie et/ou maladie de Gilles de la Tourette). Ladite méthode comprend l'administration d'une quantité efficace de ladite composition pharmaceutique, pendant une durée suffisante pour traiter ladite hyperkinésie.
