La présente invention concerne des polypeptides Clf A, l'acide aminé Y474 ou un acide aminé adjacent à Y474 étant muté de telle sorte que l'activité de liaison au fibrinogène est réduite par rapport à un polypeptide Clf A équivalent sans mutation de Y474 ou d'un acide aminé adjacent à Y474. L'invention concerne en outre des compositions immunogènes, des vaccins, des procédés et des utilisations de tels polypeptides Clf A mutés dans le traitement de maladies staphylococciques.
