Summary: | Provided is a glass melting furnace for use in an apparatus and process for producing a molten glass by melting batch material particles for glass and cullet pieces, the furnace being capable of maintaining the homogeneity of the molten glass. Batch material particles for glass are dropped from batch material particle heating units (14) comprising oxygen burners (34, 34, ···) and batch material particle introduction parts, and the batch material particles are turned into liquid glass particles (38, 38, ···) in a high-temperature gas phase due to flames (32, 32, ···) from the oxygen burners (34, 34). When the batch material particles are heated and melted, cullet pieces (30, 30, ···) are introduced radially through an introduction means (40) of a cullet piece introduction part (12) toward the multiple flames (32, 32, ···) located therearound.
