A spinal implant including first spinal attachment member (47) for attaching to a first spinal portion (45), second spinal attachment member (48) for attaching to a second spinal portion (46), and a fluid actuated (hydraulic or pneumatic) post-implantation variable dimension device (49) disposed between the first and second spinal attachment members (47,48), which is operable after completing surgery in which said spinal implant was installed into a patient, to cause relative movement between the first and second spinal attachment members.
