Disclosed is a passenger protection device provided with a side curtain airbag which expands in the form of a curtain, along the inner surface of a side portion of a vehicle. A side curtain airbag (31) is comprised of a gas introduction chamber (40) which introduces gas; and lower expansion portions (51, 52) which are expanded in the lower portion of the gas introduction chamber by the gas introduced from the gas introduction chamber. The gas introduction chamber has a plurality of large upper expansion portions (42, 43, 44) which are arranged in the longitudinal direction of a vehicle, so as to be respectively positioned in a plurality of pillars (15, 16, 17). The large upper expansion portions expand more widely than small expansion portions (45, 46), i.e., other portions of the gas introduction chamber, in the width direction of a vehicle. L'invention concerne un dispositif de protection passager doté d'un coussin gonflable de type rideau latéral qui se dilate sous la forme d'un rideau, le long de la surface interne d'une partie latérale d'un véhicule. Un coussin gonflable de type rideau latéral (31) se compose d'une chambre d'introduction de gaz (40) introduisant le gaz ; et de parties de dilatation inférieures (51, 52) qui se dilatent dans la partie inférieure de la chambre d'introduction de gaz à cause du gaz introduit depuis la chambre d'introduction de gaz. La chambre d'introduction de gaz comprend une pluralité de grandes parties de dilatation supérieures (42, 43, 44) agencées dans la direction longitudinale d'un véhicule, de façon à être respectivement positionnées dans une pluralité de montants (15, 16, 17). Les grandes parties de dilatation supérieures se dilatent plus largement que les petites parties de dilatation (45, 46), c'est-à-dire, d'autres parties de la chambre d'introduction de gaz, dans la direction de la largeur d'un véhicule.
