The present invention relates to a composition for treating metabolic diseases, and more particularly, to a composition for treating, preventing, or relieving metabolic diseases which comprises purple corn extract, purple corn anthocyanins, and compounds derived from the purple corn anthocyanins. The disclosed purple corn extract, purple corn anthocyanins, and compounds derived from the purple corn anthocyanins are excellent for reducing blood glucose levels, secreting insulin, and protecting pancreatic beta cells. Therefore, the present invention can be utilized widely in various industries including the medical field for the treatment or prevention of metabolic diseases including diabetes induced by glucose metabolism disorder, diabetes complications and obesity, and the health food field for preventing or improving the diseases.
