La présente invention concerne un procédé de fonctionnement d'un dispositif de commande (100, 200, 1210) d'une machine de découpe électronique (610). Le procédé consiste à écrire un identificateur de dispositif de commande dans une mémoire (514, 1900) de la cartouche (510, 1240), à écrire un identificateur de cartouche dans une mémoire (250, 1344) du dispositif de commande et à permettre la communication entre le dispositif de commande et la cartouche.
