Methods for screening for compounds that inhibit neurodegeneration are presented. Shedding of APP can be a useful marker for neurodegeneration and compounds that inhibit shedding of APP are useful as inhibitors of neurodegeneration. Such compounds may be useful in treatment and/or prevention of various neurological diseases, disorders and neuronal damage and may enhance growth, regeneration or survival of mammalian neuronal cells or tissue. L'invention porte sur des procédés de criblage pour des composés qui inhibent la neurodégénérescence.
