Disclosed is an exhaust gas purifying apparatus which can efficiently decrease nitrogen oxides contained in an exhaust gas. The exhaust gas purifying apparatus is provided with: an exhaust pipe for guiding an exhaust gas discharged from an internal combustion engine; a catalyst means which is arranged in the downstream of the internal combustion engine in the exhaust gas flow direction and comprises a nitrogen oxide absorbing/reducing catalyst that absorbs nitrogen oxides contained in the exhaust gas, and a supporting mechanism that is arranged within the exhaust pipe and supports the nitrogen oxide absorbing/reducing catalyst within the exhaust pipe; a reducing agent spray means for spraying a reducing agent onto the catalyst means within the exhaust pipe; a concentration measuring means which is arranged in the downstream of the catalyst means in the exhaust gas flow direction and measures the nitrogen oxide concentration in the exhaust gas that has passed through the nitrogen oxide absorbing/reducing catalyst; and a control means for controlling whether the reducing agent should be sprayed from the reducing agent spray means or not according to the nitrogen oxide concentration measured by the concentration measuring means. L'invention porte sur un appareil de purification de gaz d'échappement qui peut efficacement diminuer les oxydes d'azote contenus dans un gaz d'échappement. L'appareil de purification de gaz d'échappement est pourvu : d'un tuyau d'échappement, pour guider un gaz d'échappement évacué d'un moteur à combustion interne ; d'un moyen catalyseur qui est agencé en aval du moteur à combustion interne dans la direction d'écoulement du gaz d'échappement, et qui comporte un catalyseur d'absorption/réduction des oxydes d'azote qui absorbe les oxydes d'azote contenus dans le gaz d'échappement, et un mécanisme de support qui est disposé à l'intérieur du tuyau d'échappement et porte le catalyseur d'absorption/réduction des oxydes d'azote à l'intérieur du tuyau d'échappement ; d'un moyen de pulvérisation d'agent réducteur pour pulvériser un agent réducteur sur le moyen catalyseur à l'intérieur du tuyau d'échappement ; d'un moyen de mesure de la concentration qui est agencé en aval du moyen catalyseur dans la direction d'écoulement du gaz d'échappement, et qui mesure la concentration des oxydes d'azote dans le gaz d'échappement qui a traversé le catalyseur d'absorption/réduction des oxydes d'azote, et d'un moyen de commande qui détermine si l'agent réducteur doit être pulvérisé ou non à partir du moyen de pulvérisation d'agent réducteur, en fonction de la concentration des oxydes d'azote mesurée par le moyen de mesure de la concentration.
