Disclosed is a method for determining the gauge of a knitted article comprising the steps of: knitting a plurality of samples smaller than a knitted article and of different aspect ratio than a knitted article using a flat knitting machine; measuring the width and height of the samples; obtaining a correction function for correcting stitch size on the basis of the ratio of the measured width and height; and determining the number of knitting courses and number of needles for the parts of the knitted article from the stitch size obtained from the samples, the correction function obtained, and the target width and height of the parts of the knitted article. Accordingly, the number of knitting courses for a knitted article can be easily and reliably determined. L'invention porte sur un procédé de détermination de la jauge d'un article tricoté, comprenant les étapes consistant à : tricoter une pluralité d'échantillons plus petits qu'un article tricoté et de rapport géométrique différent de celui d'un article tricoté à l'aide d'une machine à tricoter plate; mesurer la largeur et la hauteur des échantillons; obtenir une fonction de correction destinée à corriger la taille de maille en fonction du rapport de la largeur et de la hauteur mesurées; et déterminer le nombre de passages de tricotage et le nombre d'aiguilles pour les parties de l'article tricoté à partir de la taille de maille obtenue à partir des échantillons, de la fonction de correction obtenue et de la largeur et de la taille cibles des parties de l'article tricoté. Il en résulte une détermination facile et fiable du nombre de passages de tricotage pour un article tricoté.
