La présente invention se rapporte à un brai à rendement de cokéfaction élevé préparé à partir d'un distillat de goudron de houille et ayant un point de ramollissement faible et une valeur de carbone élevée tout en ne contenant pratiquement pas d'insolubles de quinoléine. Le brai peut être utilisé comme produit d'imprégnation ou liant pour produire des objets en carbone et graphite.
