Summary:The inventors have identified several hormones that can function as biomarkers of the disease chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS). The serum concentrations of these hormones differ significantly in the disease state compared to control. These hormones are progesterone, aldosterone, androstenedione, corticosterone, testosterone, and 11-deoxycortisol. The invention provides methods and assay kits for diagnosis and treatment evaluation of CP/CPPS. Cette invention concerne l'identification de plusieurs hormones pouvant fonctionner comme biomarqueurs de la prostatite chronique/du syndrome de la douleur pelvienne chronique. Les concentrations sériques de ces hormones diffèrent significativement chez un sujet malade et chez un sujet témoin. Ces hormones sont la progestérone, l'aldostérone, l'androstènedione, la corticostérone, la testostérone et le 11-désoxycortisol. L'invention concerne des méthodes et des kits de dosage pour le diagnostic et l'évaluation thérapeutique de la prostatite chronique/du syndrome de la douleur pelvienne chronique.
