Summary: | A layered, three-way conversion catalyst having the capability of simultaneously catalyzing the oxidation of hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide and the reduction of nitrogen oxides is disclosed. Engine exhaust treatment systems including such catalysts are also provided. The catalyst generally comprises three layers in conjunction with a carrier. The three layers comprise two rhodium-containing layers and one palladium-containing layer. The two rhodium layers can be adjacent to each other, or they can be separated by another precious metal-containing layer. At least one of the two layers comprising the rhodium component comprises an oxygen storage component. Methods of making and using these catalysts are also provided.
L'invention concerne un catalyseur de conversion à trois voies à couches qui a la capacité de catalyser simultanément l'oxydation d'hydrocarbures et de monoxyde de carbone et la réduction d'oxydes d'azote. Elle concerne également des systèmes de traitement d'échappement de moteur comprenant ces catalyseurs. Le catalyseur comprend généralement trois couches associées à un support. Les trois couches comprennent deux couches contenant du rhodium et une couche contenant du palladium. Les deux couches de rhodium peuvent être adjacentes l'une à l'autre ou séparées par une autre couche contenant un métal précieux. Au moins une des deux couches contenant le composant de rhodium comprend un composant de stockage de l'oxygène. L'invention concerne en outre des procédés de préparation et d'utilisation de ces catalyseurs. |
