Summary:Compositions and processes are disclosed for reducing hexavalent chromium using a transition metal carbonyl or derivative thereof, wherein the transition metals are employed in a zero or lower valent state, and wherein preferably the transition metal carbonyl or derivative is water soluble at pH of 10 or greater. The present invention is useful for reducing chromium level in cement, cementitious materials, and in other materials. Cette invention concerne des compositions et des procédés permettant de réduire le chrome hexavalent en utilisant un carbonyle de métal de transition ou un dérivé de celui-ci, les métaux de transition étant utilisés à un état de valence nulle ou inférieure, et le carbonyle de métal de transition ou son dérivé étant hydrosoluble à un pH de 10 ou plus. L'invention est utilisée pour réduire le taux de chrome dans le ciment, les matériaux à base de ciment et dans d'autres matériaux.
