L'invention concerne un moteur à combustion interne à allumage par étincelles comprenant un mécanisme à rapport de compression variable qui modifie un rapport de compression mécanique et un mécanisme de modification du temps de départ à rapport de compression réelle qui modifie un temps de départ auquel commence la compression réelle. Un rapport de compression réelle est modifié conformément au rapport thermique spécifique d'un gaz d'admission qui est envoyé dans un cylindre.
