Summary:A metamaterial structure (100, 700a, 700b, 700c) for light processing includes a light guide (104, 704a, 704b, 704c) and a composite resonant electromagnetic (EM) structure (102, 202, 302, 402) having a resonant frequency. The composite resonant EM structure is arranged to interact with light propagating along the light guide to upconvert a frequency of the light to the resonant frequency, which generates second and higher harmonics of the light frequency. Methods of processing light are also disclosed. L'invention porte sur une structure métamatérielle (100, 700a, 700b, 700c) permettant de traiter la lumière qui comprend un guide lumineux (104, 704a, 704b, 704c) et une structure électromagnétique (EM) résonante composite (102, 202, 302, 402) ayant une fréquence de résonance. La structure EM résonante composite est disposée pour interagir avec la lumière se propageant le long du guide lumineux pour élever la fréquence de la lumière à la fréquence de résonance, ce qui génère des secondes harmoniques plus élevées de la fréquence lumineuse. L'invention porte également sur des procédés de traitement de la lumière.
