The present invention relates to the use of caffeic acid or a derivative thereof represented by the following general formula (1) wherein X is O, NH, or heterocyclyl; R may be present or absent and if present, is H, alkyl, aryl, or heterocyclyl; in all its stereoisomeric and tautomeric forms, and mixtures thereof in all ratios, and a pharmaceutically acceptable salt, pharmaceutically acceptable solvate, pharmaceutically acceptable polymorph, in the treatment of chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) which is resistant to treatment with Gleevec. The invention also relates to the reduction of the proliferation of cells that are resistant to Gleevec by contacting the cells with a compound of general formula (1 ). The present invention also relates to pharmaceutical compositions (for the manufacture of the medicament) including caffeic acid or a derivative or a salt thereof represented by the general formula (1 ) for the treatment of chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) that is resistant to treatment with Gleevec, or for reducing the proliferation of cells that are resistant to Gleevec. The present invention further relates to the treatment of chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) that is resistant to treatment with Gleevec. La présente invention concerne l'utilisation d'acide caféique ou d'un dérivé de ce composé représenté par la formule générale (1) suivante, dans laquelle X est O, NH ou hétérocyclyle, R peut être présent ou absent et s'il est présent, R est H, alkyle, aryle ou hétérocyclyle, dans toutes ses formes stéréoisomères et tautomères, et dans le mélange de celles-ci dans tous les rapports. L'invention concerne aussi un sel pharmaceutiquement acceptable, un solvate pharmaceutiquement acceptable, un polymorphe ou un promédicament pharmaceutiquement acceptable, destiné au traitement de la leucémie lymphocytaire chronique (CML) qui résiste à un traitement au Gleevec. Cette invention concerne aussi des compositions pharmaceutiques (destinées à la fabrication du médicament) comprenant de l'acide caféine ou un dérivé ou un sel de ce composé représenté par la formule générale (1) destinées au traitement de la leucémie lymphocytaire chronique (CML) résistante à un traitement au Gleevec. Cette invention concerne enfin un procédé de traitement de la leucémie lymphocytaire chronique (CML) résistante à un traitement ou Gleevec.
