La présente invention se rapporte à un procédé de transformation en disulfure des mercaptans contenus dans des coupes hydrocarbures gazeuses et/ou liquide par mise en contact en absence d'oxygène gazeux ou liquide ou apporté par un peroxyde sur un solide comprenant un oxyde amorphe ou cristallisé et un ou plusieurs éléments du groupe IA du tableau périodique et/ou un ou plusieurs éléments du groupe IIA du tableau périodique.
