The invention provides a method of revising an implanted spinal device, such as an implanted arthroplasty device having a cephalad component fixed to a first vertebra and a caudal component fixed to a second vertebra inferior to the first vertebra. The method includes the following steps: removing a portion of a previously implanted spinal arthroplasty device; and attaching a revision component to a remaining portion of the previously implanted spinal arthroplasty device to alter a biomechanical characteristic of the implanted arthroplasty device. Another aspect of the invention provides a method of limiting motion between adjacent vertebrae including the steps of accessing an implanted spinal arthroplasty device comprising a cephalad component fixed to a first vertebra and a caudal component fixed to a second vertebra inferior to the first vertebra, the cephalad and caudal components having a range of motion between them, and attaching a revision component to the cephalad and caudal components to reduce the range of motion. The invention also includes revision devices for revising the biomechanics of implanted spinal arthroplasty devices. L'invention concerne un procédé de révision d'un dispositif rachidien implanté tel qu'un dispositif d'arthroplastie implanté dont un composant vers la tête est fixé à une première vertèbre et un composant caudal est fixé à une seconde vertèbre par rapport à la première. Le procédé consiste à retirer une partie d'un dispositif d'arthroplastie rachidien précédemment implanté et fixer un composant de révision à une partie restante dudit dispositif afin de modifier ses caractéristiques biomécaniques. L'invention concerne, d'autre part, un procédé visant à limiter les déplacements entre des vertèbres adjacentes et consistant à accéder au dispositif d'arthroplastie rachidien implanté comprenant un composant vers la tête fixé à une première vertèbre et un composant caudal fixé à une seconde vertèbre inférieure à la première, le composant vers la tête et le composant caudal présentant entre eux une plage de déplacement, et à fixer un composant de révision à ces composants afin de réduire la plage de déplacement. L'invention comprend également des dispositifs de révision permettant de réviser la biomécanique des dispositifs d'arthroplastie rachidiens implantés.
