A method for analysing a chemical aspect of an object. The method includes receiving neutron detection data representing information about detected neutron radiation emitted from said object. An aspect of fast neutrons in the detected neutron radiation is determined. The aspect is attributed to inelastic collisions, such as nuclear reactions, of incident neutron radiation with one or more elements in a substance. The determined aspect is compared with an analysis criterion representative for the substance and one or more parameters of the object related to the substance are determined. L'invention concerne un procédé d'analyse d'un aspect chimique d'un objet, ledit procédé comprenant une étape consistant à recevoir des données de détection de neutrons représentant des informations relatives à un rayonnement de neutrons détecté émis à partir dudit objet. Un aspect de neutrons rapides dans le rayonnement de neutrons détecté est déterminé. Ledit aspect est attribué à des collisions inélastiques, telles que des réactions nucléaires, d'un rayonnement de neutrons incident avec un ou plusieurs éléments d'une substance. L'aspect déterminé est comparé à un critère d'analyse représentatif de la substance et un ou plusieurs paramètres de l'objet liés à la substance sont déterminés.
