A cushioning unit is in operable communication with the deformable mechanism and the cushioning unit is positioned to receive the load from the horizontal direction. La présente invention concerne un dispositif amortisseur d'ascenseur qui comprend un mécanisme déformable comprenant au moins deux bielles qui sont rattachées pivotantes l'une à l'autre. Le mécanisme déformable est conçu pour recevoir une charge verticalement et pour la translater horizontalement. Une unité d'amortissement est en communication opérationnelle avec le mécanisme déformable, laquelle unité d'amortissement est positionnée de façon qu'elle reçoive la charge horizontalement.
