A client in a plurality of clients with a same network address or similar common identifier is designated a Peer Distribution Point (PDP) agent for distributing a software application divided into several packages to the plurality of clients. The plurality of clients are part of a client-server hierarchical system comprising a Central SMS site server and several Distributing servers. The Central SMS site server generates policies for the packages that are pushed to a Distribution server assigned to the plurality of clients from where the PDP agent pulls the policies. The Central SMS site server generates the packages that are pushed to the Distributing server after the PDP agent pulls the policies. The packages are pulled by the PDP agent from the Distributing server. The other clients pull the packages from the PDP agent as and when needed. . Un client parmi plusieurs ayant la même adresse de réseau ou un identificateur commun similaire est dit agent PDP (point homologue de distribution) chargé de répartir une application logicielle divisée en plusieurs paquets entre les différents clients. Lesdits clients font partie d'un système hiérarchique client-serveur qui comporte un serveur de site central SMS et plusieurs serveurs de distribution. Le serveur de site central SMS crée des règles s'appliquant aux paquets, qui sont transmises au serveur de distribution attribué à l'ensemble des clients, d'où elles sont retirées par l'agent PDP. Le serveur de site central SMS crée les paquets qui sont transmis au serveur de distribution après que l'agent PDP en ait retiré les règles. Les paquets sont extraits du serveur de distribution par le serveur de distribution, et les autres clients retirent les paquets de l'agent PDP selon leurs besoins.
