Summary:A method is provided of sealing an annular space (7) between an expandable tubular element (6) arranged in a wellbore and a wall surrounding the expandable tubular element, whereby a pressure difference occurs between a first location in the annular space and a second location in the annular space axially spaced from the first location. The method comprises: -installing the tubular element (6) in the wellbore; -locating a body of fluid (10) in the annular space (7) between said first and second locations, said fluid having a yield strength selected such that said pressure difference is insufficient to induce axial flow of the body of fluid in the annular space (7) after radial expansionof the tubular element (S) ,- and - racially expanding the tubular element (6) . L'invention porte sur un procédé d'étanchéification d'un espace annulaire se trouvant entre un élément tubulaire extensible placé dans un puits de forage et une paroi entourant l'élément tubulaire extensible. Une différence de pression se produit entre un premier endroit et un second endroit de l'espace annulaire, espacé axialement du premier. Le procédé consiste à installer l'élément tubulaire dans le puits de forage; localiser un fluide dans l'espace annulaire entre les premier et second endroits, le fluide ayant une limite d'élasticité sélectionnée de sorte que la différence de pression soit insuffisante pour induire l'écoulement axial du fluide dans l'espace annulaire après dilatation radiale de l'élément tubulaire et dilater radialement l'élément tubulaire.
