La présente invention a pour objet une séquence d'ADN codant pour une nouvelle enzyme qui a la capacité de synthétiser la D-sérine à partir de glycine et de formaldéhyde. La présente invention a également pour objet un ADN recombinant élaboré en intégrant ledit ADN dans un vecteur, ainsi qu'un transformant résultant de l'incorporation de l'ADN recombinant, et une méthode de production de D-sérine à partir de glycine et de formaldéhyde qui emploie ladite enzyme.
