A video endoscope system includes a reusable control cabinet and an endoscope that is connectable thereto. The encoscope may be used with a single patient and then disposed. The endoscope includes an illumination mechanism, an image sensor, and an elongate sahft having one or more lumens located therein. An articularion joint at the distal end of the endoscope allows the distal end to be oriented by the actuators in the control cabinet or actuators in a control handle of the endoscope. Fluidics, electrical, navigation, image, display and data entry controls are integrated into the system along with other accessories. La présente invention concerne un système endoscopique vidéo constitué d'une armoire de commande réutilisable et un endoscope venant s'y brancher. L'endoscope ne sert que pour un seul patient, après quoi il se jette. Cet endoscope comporte un dispositif d'éclairage, un capteur d'image, et une tige de forme allongée pourvue d'au moins une lumière. Une articulation à l'extrémité distale de l'endoscope permet à des actionneurs de l'armoire de commande ou de la poignée de manipulation d'orienter l'extrémité distale de l'endoscope. La gestion des fluides, de l'électricité, de la navigation, de l'image, de l'affichage et de la saisie des données est intégrée au système ainsi que la gestion d'autres accessoires.
