The less polar solvent can be a (C5-C8) aliphatic hydrocarbon, a (C6-C8) aromatic hydrocarbon, a (C1-C4) dialkyl ether or their mixtures. Le paclitaxel est séparé d'un mélange contenant de la céphalomannine par chromatographie en colonne sur un gel de silicium utilisant un mélange de solvant contenant de la cétone d'isobutyl de méthyle et un solvant moins polaire comme phase mobile. Le solvant moins polaire peut être un hydrocarbure aliphatique (C5-C8), un hydrocarbure aromatique (C6-C8), un éther dialkyle (C1-C4) ou leurs mélanges.
