The invention relates to the use of maslinic acid as an additive for animal production. More specifically, the invention relates to the use of maslinic acid (2-alpha,3-betadihydroxy-28-carboxyolean-12-ene), the derivatives or natural products thereof or concentrates of same which contain said acid, in the preparation, either alone or combined with other agents, of products that can be used in animal production. The invention is characterised in that the product inhibits serine protease activity and improves growth of the liver and the tissue proteins thereof and development of the granules of glycogen and the rough endoplasmatic reticulum in hepatic cells. L'utilisation de l'acide maslinique (2-alpha,3-bêtadihydroxy-28-carboxyoléan-12-ène), de ses dérivés ou de produits naturels ou de concentrés de ceux-ci, le contenant dans la préparation, seul ou en association avec d'autres agents, de produits applicables à la production animale, est caractérisée en ce que le produit est un inhibiteur d'activité de serine-protéases, un améliorant de la croissance du foie et de ses protéines tissulaires respectives, et du développement des granules de glycogène et du réticulum endoplasmatique rugueux dans les cellules hépatiques.
