Summary:The instant invention relates to mesogenic compounds which comprise a phenyl ring, which is bearing two mesogenic groups in otho position to each other, preferably of formula (I) wherein the parameters are as specified in the text. The instant invention further relates to mesogenic media, preferably liquid crystal media showing a blue phase and their use in electro-optical light modulation elements and their respective use in displays, as well as to such devices. La présente invention se rapporte à des composés mésogéniques comprenant un noyau phényle, qui porte deux groupes mésogéniques en position otho l'un par rapport à l'autre, représenté de préférence par la formule (I) dans laquelle les paramètres sont définis dans les spécifications. L'invention se rapporte également à des milieux mésogéniques, de préférence des milieux à cristaux liquides présentant une phase bleue ainsi qu'à leur utilisation dans des éléments électro-optiques de modulation de la lumière et leur utilisation respective dans des afficheurs, ainsi qu'à de tels dispositifs.
