La présente invention concerne des compositions de coloration par oxydation de fibres de kératine qui renferment un milieu approprié pour colorer et un ou plusieurs composés hétéroaromatiques 5-6 bicycliques de coloration de la kératine comportant une jonction azote monocyclique et un ou deux hétéroatomes supplémentaires. Un procédé de coloration par oxydation de fibres de kératine consiste à appliquer de telles compositions en présence d'un agent oxydant, pendant un temps suffisant pour produire la coloration désirée.
