The present invention provides inorganic pigments including cobalt and aluminum having the spinel crystalline structure that exhibit improved color and/or weatherability in paint and polymer applications. Inorganic pigments according to the invention are formed by adding small quantities of a phosphate compound such as aluminum phosphate and, optionally, chromium (III) oxide, to a raw batch that includes a mixture of cobalt-containing and aluminum-containing inorganic pigment precursors, and calcining the raw batch to obtain the inorganic pigment. La présente invention concerne des pigments inorganiques comprenant du cobalt et de l'aluminium, présentant une structure cristalline spinelle, qui permettent d'obtenir des couleurs améliorées et/ou une plus grande résistance aux intempéries dans les applications peinture et polymères. Pour fabriquer les pigments inorganiques de l'invention, on ajoute des petites quantités d'un composé phospaté tel que du phosphate d'aluminium et, éventuellement de l'oxyde de chrome (III) à une cuvée brute qui renferme des précurseurs de pigments inorganiques contenant du cobalt et de l'aluminium, et l'on soumet la cuvée brute à calcination pour l'obtention du pigment inorganique.
