Whilst changing between performance levels, the further circuits are capable of supporting intermediate levels of operation and the processor exploits these by operating at those intermediate levels pending the final target level being reached. La présente invention concerne un système de traitement de données qui comprend un processeur (46) générant des signaux de commande en vue de commander d'autres circuits, tels qu'un générateur d'horloge (4) et un dispositif de commande (6) de la tension, afin que leur fonctionnement assure un niveau d'efficacité désirée au processeur. Alors même qu'ils passent d'un niveau d'efficacité à un autre, les autres circuits sont capables de supporter des niveaux de fonctionnement intermédiaires et le processeur exploite ces derniers en fonctionnant à ces niveaux intermédiaires en attendant d'atteindre le niveau cible final.
